Running Journals Custom Made for the Nike Pegasus 34 launch

Custom running journals aren’t easy.

Especially when we’re talking about a custom cover and custom contents. Especially especially when we’re talking about a 10 day cross country delivery timeline and communication lag with a 3 hour time difference.

But just because it’s not easy doesn’t mean it doesn’t get done.

We recently created custom running journals for a Nike and Fleet Feet Sports event in Albany, NY to help them launch the 34th edition of the Nike Pegasus running shoe. When Corey reached out to us, he needed a large number of running journals on a short timeline, with a custom cover and custom layout.

For the content of the running journals, it was easy enough, he wanted pure running, with a single goal page and 149 pages of customized run tracking. They obviously wanted to log some workouts and at 2 entries per page, that gave them about 300 workouts to record. That’s a lot of running.

The cover was more difficult, as we only had a few images to work with and he was aiming for a specific look. After mocking up and revising a few covers, we landed on a design that evoked the power of a high performance athlete, while also focusing on the attributes of the Nike Pegasus which have made it such a successful shoe. Seriously, 34 editions of one shoe, I guess people like it.

When all was said and done, we got approval with about a week to deliver. I got on my paper punching horse and pushed those bad boys through the production chain and Corey had them in hand within 4 days. As he said,

“They got there earlier than expected and looked great! The runners loved them. Thanks for your help.”

I’ll take that as a win.
