I can’t really stress this enough. If the lift is 5×5 Back Squat you should know what your 5RM is.
If you need to scale the WOD, you should know how you scaled it last time.
You should know your strengths and your weaknesses.
You should know how much work it is going to take to get to your next goal and what the progression is.
You should know if you get to ring that bell or not.
If you are serious about your training, then you should know all of this.
And before you even try to go there – no, your coach should not know all your numbers. Sure, they should know where you are, and what you are working on, but they shouldn’t know all the minute details. That is on you.
In the end, it all falls on you anyhow, not your coach. They aren’t the ones striving for a muscleup or working towards a heavy clean. They are there to cheer you on, to program for you, to motivate you, to kick you in the ass if you need it – they aren’t there to BE you.
Take responsibility for your training, goals and resolutions. Write it down after every workout. Know your numbers.
